Zahir Khan, author of “Falling into the Mystery”, the story of the end of his seeking, is seen as a contemporary mystic in the tradition of Sufism, having spent eight years studying at the feet of a master of the Qadriyya school of Sufism and then further studying and meeting teachers from the non-dual, Advaita and Buddhist traditions. He now holds talks and meetings internationally to present his wisdom in a lighthearted and unconventional way, avoiding much of the dogma and pitfalls of modern spirituality.

From Zahir’s website:
I looked for something outside myself – some mystical state I thought would make my life work – and I traveled and drifted for years in search of it. Life was failing, and in order to make it better, I thought I needed to get enlightened.

The story of me contained pain and suffering and I wanted it to stop. I wanted the house, the car, the beautiful wife, the ability to look my peers in the eyes and feel they’re equal… to be a man. So to do this, I undertook a myriad of methods, teachers and schools. In the end, it meant nothing. It was a story just like any other – nothing special – yet the joy of realizing that I was what I’d always wanted to be let the pain go, and it was realized that there had never been pain – just an idea of it.

Once seen, life becomes a walking, sitting, standing meditation, for there is nothing that is not this reality. In the end one moves from names, terminology and methods into reality, and paradoxically then the realization arises that even when I was method, pointer and technique… even when I was seeking… I was still this reality, still this freedom.

Just as a rainbow may have many colours, as we travel through the rainbow, even though we may experience different colours, it is still the one rainbow.
