Director/Producer Andrew Jones Passes At Age 39

Andrew Jones, Founder of North Bank Entertainment, Prolific Writer, Director & Producer of Indie Films, Passed Away on 15 January 2023, Age 39.

Swansea, S Wales, UK: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Jones, Founder of North Bank Entertainment, at Morriston Hospital, following a 2 year battle with Cushing’s Syndrome, a rare adrenal condition. He will be sadly missed by his father Raymond, and devoted wife Sharron, as well as the many friends, colleagues and fans whose knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be held at Margam Crematorium on Friday 24 February at 2:30pm.

Despite his young age, Andrew wrote, directed and produced more than 30 low-budget Indie feature films.

Without formal training or film school background, Andrew Jones thought himself how to make a film with his first feature “Teenage Wasteland”. Shot in 2005, when Andrew was just 21, it was a rather violent, social commentary drama. It was soon followed by “The Feral Generation”, a drama about a couple of homeless junkies. He cast 2 Eastenders stars in the main roles, and with this ensure he was able to raise the necessary finance. Casting a celebrity actor here and there became one of the trademarks of Andrew’s success in Indie film.

North Bank Entertainment was founded in 2011, the first of many independent production companies, focusing on Horror productions in the UK. With its inception, Andrew paved the way for the many Indie companies now in the same market. His many titles graced supermarket shelves in Britain, around Europe and the world. While none of his low-budget features ever earned him critical acclaim, the production formula he worked with made North Bank Entertainment a viable commercial enterprise. He is probably best known for the Robert the Doll film series.

Highly regarded and respected by his peers and colleagues in the Indie Film Industry, Andrew was known as a kind, generous and hardworking man, who gave many their first real opportunity in British film and kickstarted many a career.

Andrew fell ill at the end of 2019, putting a halt to his prolific output. He was eventually diagnosed with Cushing’s Syndrome, a rare adrenal condition, in February 2022. His loving wife Sharron, an accomplished artist in her own right, became his full-time carer, leaving the couple without income except for scant disability benefits.

Much gratitude goes to The Film and TV Charity, the Cushing’s Support & Research Foundation, and the many contributors who have supported Andrew & Sharron during this difficult period. Colleagues & friends continue to raise funds to help Sharron through the grieving process without financial worries.
